Recently, I’ve heard that Szuetta’s from Italy came to Hungary to help with the wine industry. I’m not sure when this might have been, as I’ve traced the Szuetta family in Hungary back to the 1729 birth of Joannes Szuetta in Filkehaza. Bodrogolaszi (Petrahó} was settled with Italians after the Tartar invasion in the 13th century. I believe that I’ve read somewhere that Pálháza was originally settled by Italians. I would certainly like more information about this topic!

Wow! This is so interesting! I think there was a lot of movement into Hungary to help repopulate as well as work the land. We possibly also have relatives with an Italian connection. It would be interesting to know the various waves of immigration into Hungary and the whys behind it!
