        Thank you, Emese, for a very informative presentation. Although I was aware of ethnic Hungarians in the adjacent countries, I didn’t have good historical context nor did I have full understanding of the challenges they faced in the past, and continue to face today.

          Thank you. This was a very informative presentation. I was a little familiar with the problems in Transylvania, but didn’t know about the problems in the other surrounding countries. I believe my ancestors came to Hungary from Slovakia to repopulate the villages in the early 17th century. From something you said in your presentation, I am now wondering if those ancestors had originally been living in Hungary but had been pushed north into Slovakia by the Turks.

              Emese, that was a good presentation. I live in Cleveland, Ohio where we have many Hungarians and organizations, like the Hungarian Scouts, even two good radio programs, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. I have heard much about these minorities, but many people of Hungarian heritage and ancestry don’t know much about them, for one it’s not covered in the news media, but with social media and the internet there is much information about them. There are some YouTube videos by Hungarians from Slovakia, Romania, and some from Serbia. Ukraine is a challenge. But thank you for the information about these minorities.

                I live in the greatYoungstown Ohio area. Liz Szabo Vos is my sister and she’s more informed where are Hungarian relatives live. I do remember my mom smuggling money (with us in the car)into Romania to Hungarians in the mid seventies.

                  Koszi, Emese, for a concise and informative overview of the past and present situations facing ethnic Hungarian minorities in the different countries neighboring Hungary. It’s impossible to imagine what these communities and families have had to deal with, and also mind-boggling that Trianon happened over 100 years ago. You and your colleagues at HHRF are doing important work in supporting them and letting them know the world has not forgotten them.

                      Thank you for this presentation. I knew there was a problem but I didn’t realize how widespread it was and even into Ukraine. Thanks for enlightening me!
