Hello, Rhonda. Congrats on your recent citizenship! I would love to hear about some of your experience with the process and also what you plan to do with it. It feels very daunting and sometimes I wonder if I will ever get good enough speaking the language to talk with the consulate.

Szia! I am Bethany (Bukosky) Newell. I have two sets of great-great grandparents that came to the U.S from Hungary in 1895-1900. Their last names were Bukóczki (several different spellings) and Pécsi. They all eventually made their way to Flint, Michigan. I grew up going to the Hungarian Festival in the area, but as time passed, we stopped going. I have always been interested in learning more about my ancestry. I am in the early process of obtaining dual citizenship, collecting documents and taking language lessons. My husband and I are planning on traveling to Hungary next spring. I am interested in gaining a deeper connection with my Hungarian roots and how to incorporate the culture with my family. I would also welcome any advice on citizenship process. Also, this is my first expo.
