Well, Klaudia, I was not expecting such a wonderful presentation and so much needed information on this historic event. I am excited to watch Torn From The Flag now that I understand the importance! Bravo for doing all this hard work to keep the spirit of Hungary alive, especially in North America-the biggest influencer in the world! A piece of my heart has awakened knowing that your love of Hungary is the ignition to this great work! ❤️🤍💚
What a wonderful presentation Zsofia! You truly have a heart for these dogs as demonstrated by you sitting amongst them while doing your presentation! Very informative! Here in Texas, where we do have a hunting season, I see many Vizslas, short hair, used for families that also hunt. They are a wonderful dog. My neighbor has three in fact! Great talk!

I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all of your memorabilia. You’ve inspired me to go through and look for things. I still have to locate my great aunt’s, sister to my grandmother, son who had I believe three children and I know my mother met them when she went back to Hungary in 1974, I think and I need to locate them! Thanks!
I see some have written that they grew up in Los Angeles in a Hungarian community. I was born in Los Angeles – downtown at The Hospital of the Good Samaritan. My parents and I lived in LA for a few years until we moved the Valley in San Fernando. We did end up in Burbank and I remember my mother would speak in Hungarian to the butcher at the meat market there, and there was a restaurant called Little Vienna in North Hollywood area and we would go and my grandpa would cry when the violinist came to play. He missed the Old Country as did my grandmother.
So good to reminisce!August 29, 2025 at 6:11 pm in reply to: Historical Literacy: It’s importance in understanding and valuing our Hungarian heritage #3699Katalin! This was so wonderful and informative. I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation. You are one who has made a difference in Hungarian culture by doing something about it!
My grandmother was born in 1904 in Hungary, and she used to tell me when I was a little girl, “I was born in two places”, as her birthplace eventually became Slovakia – it was Czechoslovakia when she was still alive as she passed away in 1973. This Expo has given me so much insight where I thought I would never have any in what my grandparents went through individually and together before they left in the mid-1920s to Canada.
Thank you! I feel as though I am in school all this week, but the difference is I LOVE everything I am learning!

I am definitely buying the book and will most likely get a copy for each of my daughters who love the macabre and murder mystery type stories!

[email protected]August 28, 2025 at 3:44 pm in reply to: Hungarian Wall Cloths: Art from Household to Museum with Joyce Corbett #3554This was so fascinating! I did not realize that I have wall cloths from my grandmother and grandfather in my possession. I have one that depicts a husband coming home with a bouquet of flowers to his wife. I had a friend who was from Hungary that told me that it was the custom that on payday, the husband buy flowers for his wife!
Well down Joyce! I enjoyed it immensely!
